Cynthia A. Kase, CMT, MFTA
Cynthia A. Kase is an expert on crude oil, refined products, fuel oil, natural gas and related commodity trading and hedging, a technical forecaster, and energy price and price risk analyst. Ms. Kase has a parallel expertise and is recognized as a world leader in technical analysis, technical market forecasting, and trading and hedging algorithm and financial market software development. She is also the founder of Kase and Company, Inc., which she established in 1992, a U.S. based energy risk management and financial software firm. Kase and Company, Inc. provides energy hedgers with clear, comprehensive, energy risk valuation and management policies, procedures, and strategies, as well as ongoing hedge strategy support. Additionally, the firm provides trading, decision support, and risk management software solutions and is registered as a Commodity Trading Advisor with the CFTC.
Ms. Kase has taught thousands of industry professionals “CPE” energy technical trading, and energy hedging and risk management classes, and is widely published in both specializations. Moreover, Ms. Kase has acted as an expert in a number of legal cases and has spoken at over 100 industry conferences and events.
From 1991 to 1992 she advised the Saudi Oil Ministry, Petronal, as Director Technical Analysis and Director Risk Management, reviewing energy contracts and pricing, and developing computerized hedging systems. From 1990 to 1991 she was VP Commodity Risk Management at Chemical Bank, trading over-the-counter derivatives.
From 1980 to 1990, Ms. Kase worked for Chevron Corporation (previously Standard Oil Company of California). From 1983 to 1990, she worked for the firm’s international oil trading arm, CIOC.
From 1985 to 1990 Kase was a managerial level trader, responsible for the NY office’s international Transatlantic and “Caribs up-coast” cargo trading, first of crude oil and then of refined products. From 1983 to 1985 she coordinated contracts, shipping, specifications, credit, analyzed prices, and developed the firm’s first blending optimization program. From 1980 to 1983, Ms. Kase was a project engineer for the corporate engineering department.
From 1973 to 1980, Ms. Kase worked as an engineer for Polaroid and then Stauffer Chemical, and served as an engineering duty officer in the United States Naval Reserves from 1976 to 1991, achieving the rank of Lieutenant Commander.
Ms. Kase holds the professional designations of CMT (Chartered Market Technician) awarded by the Market Technicians Association, and MFTA (Master of Financial Technical Analysis) granted by the International Federation of Technical Analysts. She has won dozens of awards for her work both in financial and energy analysis. She received a BS from Lowell Tech (now University of Massachusetts at Lowell, 1973) and ME Northeastern University (1977), both in chemical engineering.
Kase has won numerous awards, including most recently “Best Commodity, Energy, and Power, Research and Strategy” from Technical Analyst Magazine. Her recently released video and workbook, Kase on Technical Analysis, has been hailed as a “superb resource” on modern technical analysis.

Dean Rogers, CMT
Dean Rogers assumed the role of President of Kase in Company, Inc. in 2024 after being retained as General Manager and Senior Analyst in 2002, and has worked with Kase since 2000.
Dean is one of the energy and metals commodity industry’s top technical analysts and writes Kase’s award-winning forecasts. Throughout his career, Dean has overseen Kase’s operations, client support, and training. He also teaches Kase’s technical analysis and energy risk management courses, manages programming and development, and collaborates with the founder of Kase and Company, Inc., Ms. Cynthia Kase, CMT, MFTA, to develop new software and conduct quantitative research. Dean designs and writes programs to help expedite and automate parts of Kase’s internal forecasting and hedging systems. Furthermore, he works to improve the Kase StatWare® and KaseX trading indicators and develop new technical trading indicators, systems, and tools.
Dean holds a BA from the University of New Mexico, having concentrated in Organizational and Information Learning Systems. He is also a member of the CMT Association and a CMT charter holder, has been quoted in the Wall Street Journal®, Bloomberg®, Reuters® publications, and Black & Veatch’s® Cap Markets Report. He has also been published in Technical Analysis of Stocks and Commodities® magazine, contributed articles to various eSignal™, Bloomberg®, and Investopedia publications, and makes regular appearances on CNBC Arabia.
